If like me, you like checking into hotels (I actually do it as a hobby) the La Mota is by far and away, the place for you.
I'd already been forewarned by email, that I would simply just have to provide my name at reception, whereon I would be given my room key.
I dislike this kind of efficiency if I'm honest, and was hoping that check in would be a fiasco of Fawlty Towers-esque proportions.
We turned up rather late at 23:40, and I was excited to learn that there'd been a policy change.
The check-in procedure went as follows....
1. Go to check in.
2. Wait twenty minutes for Receptionist to appear.
3. Give her your passport.
4. Get directed to automated check in machine.
5. Go back to Receptionist to get check in code, which is completely different to the one on the email.
6. Go back to machine, and enter details.
7. Get charged an extra 10€, despite having previously paid for the room in full.
8. Discover machine has run out of key cards.
9. Go back to Check in desk, to tell the Receptionist.
10. Receptionist refills the machine.
11. Obtain key card.
12. Go back to Receptionist to claim 10€ which is given to you in cash.
13. Go to room.
Despite the hotels best efforts, we were in our room by 00:30. However one of our party struck gold, and didn't receive his key card until 01:30, almost two hours after entering the hotel.
The check-in experience was everything I'd wish for, exciting, chaotic and unpredictable.
All in all, it's a ten out of ten from me.
Wonderful.
No personal touch at all… No contact possibilities ( asked 3 times for invoice…NO result ) awful breakfast ( badbad coffee .. fabric cheese and ‘ meat ‘ … yoghurt with sugar )
View from the room on the garden ….? !? ( see the picture)
Great comfortable rooms. Breakfast not the best. Reception non existing.
Worst hotel stay in ages.
The first experience was a unresponsive self-check-in machine that doesn't say it won't give you the change if you pay cash and that gets bugged if you're checking-in more than one room (we had to call for them to remotely give us the 2nd key).
We enter in a pleasing (although dark) reception area, but with no one to be seen.
Upstairs, at our rooms (100 & 101) the carpet was really worn out, the armchairs in room 100 super dusty. No decor in either of the rooms, which we at first thought it was because of covid, but there aren't any rests that they ever had decor in our rooms (not a nail for a painting or the mark of one on a wall, despite the walls' paint being clearly worn and ageing). The bathroom was very worn, and the light fittings dirty and old. There weren't any plugs near the bed.
Talking about the bed, the sheets were actually really nice, despite the mattress being on its way out.
I spent one whole afternoon looking for the password to the WiFi, gave up.
Room 100 overlooked the roof of the reception area, and a rotting pigeon. Room 101 overlooked what we thought was an abandoned backyard. Turns out is a very poorly mantained second parking.
The next morning no one was in reception either, which made the fact that one of the room keys stopped working a very difficult task. Thankfully there was a very nice cleaning lady on the building that opened the room for us, but if we had had a longer stay, it might have been quite annoying. Which brings me to the breakfast... AVOID THE BREAKFAST. There was no bread, no cold milk, no napkins... It was sad and extremely disappointing.
I've been to 5 continents, 15 countries, and this hotel might be the worst place I've genuinely been. Even worst than some youth hostels.
EDIT: rooms were big and it was centric, I will at least give them that
Worst hotel in town. Room in winter time is very cold, poor internet quality. Breakfast room is like a fridge. Food quality serving for a breakfast is really poor. No reception - I you need to resolve any problem you have ty make a phone call to somebody with very low level of english. Simply, not anymore.
We spent two nights there for a wedding. The hotel is quite old and poor of services. A good side is the reception open 24 hours and the position, is really close to the main church and square.
Cery clean and acvomodating staffs
Super place for walking in the mountain..
